A group training class includes dogs and owners at noticeably different skill levels, and one dog’s occasional reactivity is disrupting the group.
What You Actually Do
- Manage the reactive dog’s environment (positioning, distance) to reduce disruption to the group
- Structure exercises with enough flexibility to accommodate the range of skill levels present
- Use multiple explanation methods to reach owners with different learning styles
- Recognize group instruction as a distinct skill from one-on-one training, requiring its own preparation
