The Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT), established in 2001 and accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, is the leading independent certifying body for the dog training profession. Their foundation-level CPDT-KA (Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed) credential tests a broad range of knowledge across ethology, learning theory, dog training technique, and instruction — all grounded in humane, science-based methods.
This course builds toward that same knowledge base: how dogs actually learn (operant and classical conditioning), reading canine body language, positive reinforcement technique, addressing common behavior problems, working with clients, and the humane hierarchy that should guide any professional training decision. This course does not grant the official CPDT-KA credential itself — it uses CCPDT’s knowledge domains as a grounded foundation for real training competency.
