Field Scenario
A confident veterinary assistant is asked by a client for their opinion on whether a specific treatment plan sounds right, based on what they’ve seen working in the clinic.
What You Actually Do
- Defer to the veterinarian for any treatment-related opinion or recommendation
- Recognize that offering this kind of opinion falls clearly outside assistant scope
- Understand deferring appropriately reflects genuine professionalism, not inadequate knowledge
- Redirect the client’s question to the veterinarian for a proper, licensed response
