Experienced Veterinary Technician (to be Pharmacy Technician) – job post

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist in the dispensing of medications for our animal patients, manage inventory, and provide excellent service to our clients and their pets. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a passion for animal care and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. ** PREVIOUS VETERINARY ASSISTANT OR TECHNICIAN EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED ** Key Responsibilities: Assist the veterinarian in filling prescriptions according to medical standards, ensuring accurate dosing and proper labeling. Manage and maintain the pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, and documenting medications and supplies. Provide clear instructions to pet owners on medication administration, including dosage, potential side effects, and storage requirements. Process transactions and handle cash and credit payments for prescriptions and over-the-counter sales. Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy area, adhering to all safety and legal regulations. Collaborate with veterinary staff to ensure a seamless, integrated approach to animal care. Stay informed about new medications and advances in veterinary pharmacy practices. Qualifications: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred, but not required. Previous experience in a pharmacy setting, with veterinary pharmacy experience highly desirable. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to convey information clearly to pet owners and team members. Compassionate and patient, with a genuine interest in animal welfare. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Basic computer skills and proficiency in pharmacy-related software.
