Pet First Aid & Emergency Care Training Seizures and Neurological Emergencies Seizure Response: Field Application Pet Tech® has been the first international training center dedicated to CPR, first…
Field Scenario
A pet begins having a seizure, and a bystander instinctively wants to hold the pet down and put a hand near its mouth to prevent injury.
What You Actually Explain
- Avoid putting hands near the mouth during a seizure, since this risks injury to the caretaker
- Clear the area of hazards rather than attempting to restrain the pet directly
- Time the seizure’s duration, since this is genuinely useful information for the veterinarian
- Seek veterinary follow-up even after a single seizure resolves on its own
