A normally gentle dog appears to have an injured leg after a fall and snaps unexpectedly when someone reaches to examine it.
What You Actually Explain
- An injured, frightened pet may bite out of pain or fear, even if normally gentle
- Approach and handle the pet cautiously, recognizing this as a normal, expected response to injury
- Avoid attempting to realign or splint the injury without proper training
- Minimize movement of the injured limb and seek professional veterinary evaluation
